Alexa Vang is a Service Facilitator and Skills Developer at Grand Journey, bringing a strong background in community service, youth development, and mental health support. Since graduating high school in 2006, she has gained experience through employment and volunteer work with nonprofit organizations, including the Hmong Refugee Youth Program and Hmong Community Center in Manitowoc, WI, as well as tutoring programs focused on youth development, confidence-building, and skill development. She also spent three years working within a mental health program at Lutheran Social Services in Appleton, WI, which further solidified her path in the mental health field.

Alexa specializes in working with youth, particularly those from challenging family environments or who have experienced bullying as well as women navigating family expectations, relationship challenges, and self-esteem concerns. She also supports individuals experiencing depression and suicidal ideation, offering compassionate, skill-based support through ISDE services.

Her approach is grounded in empathy, resilience, and a strength-based perspective, guided by her belief that everyone has a story and that every story deserves to be heard. Inspired by her favorite author, Charles de Lint, she values the importance of listening deeply and honoring each individual’s lived experience. As a bilingual provider in Hmong and English, Alexa brings a culturally responsive lens to her work and is experienced in supporting both youth and older adults within the Hmong community.

Alexa’s passion for this field is deeply personal, shaped by her own experiences and commitment to helping others find hope, strength, and purpose. Outside of work, she enjoys anime, gaming, digital art, photography, and exploring philosophy and creative expression.
