Dao Xiong is a Service Facilitator at Grand Journey, bringing a strong background in education, bilingual support, and community-based services. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Services with a concentration in Social Work and has over a decade of experience supporting diverse populations.
Prior to entering the mental health field, Dao worked for more than 10 years as a Bilingual Educational and Special Education Assistant in the Verona and McFarland School Districts. In this role, he supported Hmong, Southeast Asian, and Latina students in both academic and social development. Since 2023, Dao has been working as a CCS Service Facilitator, providing care coordination, supporting clients in accessing services, and helping individuals navigate complex systems of care. In addition, he is an experienced freelance interpreter and translator, bilingual in Hmong and English, and has worked with organizations such as the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Madison Metropolitan School District, and Verona Area School District.
Dao’s passion for this work is deeply influenced by his personal experiences caring for his grandparents in their late 80s. This experience strengthened his understanding of aging, mental health, and the importance of social connection, while reinforcing his commitment to providing respectful and compassionate care.
Dao takes a person-centered and relationship-focused approach, valuing trust, consistency, and meaningful engagement. He enjoys supporting clients in practical ways, including attending appointments, assisting with transportation, and helping interpret important information.
Outside of work, Dao enjoys spending time with his wife, three children, and their Maltese dog, Astro. He is committed to continued growth and learning, with a focus on expanding his knowledge of community resources and systems that support the populations he serves.
